Herkunft der Rasse

Der große neapolitanische Mastiff oder auch Mastino genannt kommt in der Nähe von Neapel, Italien, vor. Er war ein Produkt römischer Kriegshunde und des britischen Mastiffs. Ursprünglich wurde dieser Hund zum Schutz von Familien, Bauernhöfen und Immobilien gezüchtet.

Cane Corso
Der Cane Corso ist ebenfalls eine italienische Rasse, die von den römischen Hunden abstammt. Seine Vorfahren stammen vermutlich aus Tibet, wo ursprünglich die meisten Mastiffs herkamen. Er war Landarbeiter, Wächter und Jagdhund für große Spiele wie die Jagd auf Wildschweine.
